Our Erasmus+ project 2023-1-HU01-KA210-SCH-000152236 – Get Away From The Screens, Be With Nature: Play and Discovery in Children’s Lives has reached its final stage. Over the past period, together with our partners, we have developed a wide range of games, lesson plans, and pedagogical materials designed to help students reduce screen time and enjoy real, offline experiences. The final mobility activity of the project is now taking place in Romania, hosted by Academic High School Eviss.
The mobility focuses on sustainability, nature, and local cultural values. The past two days have been rich in experiences. The school’s students presented musical performances, using different instruments to demonstrate how music can help express emotions and connect cultures. Participants also took part in a sustainability workshop, where they created jewelry from leather scraps, giving new life to materials while creatively highlighting the importance of recycling. The program also included a museum visit, offering insights into local culture and traditions, along with several excursions to discover churches, palaces, and the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
This mobility once again demonstrates that sustainability can be taught through experiences. The closeness to nature, the role of music and handicrafts, and the joy of shared discoveries not only make learning more engaging but also help participants experience the benefits of digital detox and enjoy richer offline moments. The next milestone of the project will be a digital publication summarizing the games, lesson plans, and methods developed so far, which will be piloted in schools starting in September.
Our experiences clearly show that reconnecting with nature, engaging in creative activities that promote sustainability, and sharing meaningful experiences can all contribute to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle for children in the long term.
