In October 2024, a four-member team from the Kaán Károly Environmental Association participated in an international mobility event in Mersin, Turkey. The focus of the meeting was on environmental education, cultural heritage, digital awareness, and sustainable thinking. During the mobility, participants deepened their knowledge through a wide range of activities, shared best practices, and developed new ideas for local implementation.
The program included field-based learning at archaeological and natural sites, school visits and participation in local celebrations, as well as various workshops addressing topics such as screen addiction, cyber security, digital education, and arts pedagogy.
Outdoor learning played a key role throughout the program, especially through forest and marine school sessions, where participants gained first-hand experience in integrating natural environments into education. Cultural programs and creative arts activities further supported the understanding of cultural heritage and national identity in an engaging and imaginative way.
The mobility also involved an evaluation of the previous project phase and collaborative development of new proposals and ideas for the upcoming stages. Based on the feedback from participants, the program provided not only valuable professional insights but also meaningful human experiences, strengthening the cohesion of the international partnership.
Upon returning home, our association’s members began implementing the lessons learned within their local communities. Several ideas related to recycling and sustainability are already being developed into project-level initiatives. This mobility was therefore not just an inspiring journey, but also a starting point for tangible change.
